Screen cleaning mode

Turn your whole screen solid black or white so every smudge and speck of dust shows up. Taps and clicks are ignored while you wipe, so you won't open anything by accident.

To exit: press Esc on a keyboard, or press and hold anywhere on the screen for 2 seconds.

Black or white: which to use?

• Black shows fingerprints, grease and streaks, especially under a lamp or window light.
• White shows dust, specks and dead pixels.

How to use it

1. Pick black or white. The page goes full screen.
2. Wipe with a dry microfiber cloth first, then a barely damp one for anything left. Our screen cleaning guide covers laptops, phones and TVs.
3. On Chrome and Edge for desktop, most keyboard keys are blocked too, so you can wipe the keyboard without typing. Hold Esc to leave.

On iPhone, Safari doesn't allow web pages to go full screen, so the color fills the page instead. Hide the toolbar by scrolling, or turn the screen off and clean it dark.
